TENNIS-US OPEN

New York, Sep 7 (EFE).- Playing in his 10th U.S. Open, Spaniard Tommy Robredo has again faltered in the Round of 16, falling here Tuesday to Russia's Mikhail Youzhny 7-5, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in a match that lasted more than 3 hours.
The first set was fairly equal. Robredo played very consistently from deep court and dealt well with the shots of the 2006 U.S. Open semifinalist, who ended with 50 winners.
The main problem with Robredo's game was his failure to convert on two of the three break points that came his way during the course of the match.
But even after going down two sets, the Spaniard didn't give up and continued fighting it out, surviving two breaks to win the third set.
But after a rather equal beginning, the dice in the fourth set suddenly rolled Youzhny's way when on his first break point the ball hit the top of the net and fell softly onto the other side in front of a desperately reaching Robredo putting the Russian up 3-2.
That was the tipping point, and thereafter Youzhny's service was virtually faultless and gave the Spaniard no chance to break it.
Robredo, the 41st seed, was one of a record six Spanish players to advance to the Round of 16. Two of them, world No. 1 Rafael Nadal and Feliciano Lopez, are set to face each other Tuesday night.
