Los Angeles, Feb 8 (EFE).- Singer-songwriter Gustavo Galindo crowned his first album with a Grammy nomination, an honor that he will enjoy at the gala awards ceremony next Sunday in Los Angeles where he hopes to actually take home one of the coveted trophies, he told Efe here Wednesday.
Galindo, born in Mexico and raised in the United States, was one of the big novelties on the Spanish-language musical scene in 2011 thanks to his debut album "Entre la ciudad y el mar," which he produced with Surco Records, the label of Gustavo Santaolalla.
"I didn't expect to be nominated for the U.S. Grammys," commented Galindo, 29, after his name was left off the list of nominees for the Latino Grammys, the award for which it would seem that he had better prospects.
"With the fact of being nominated, you've already won," the artist said. He will vie for the golden gramophone award for Best Latin Pop, Rock or Urban Album with Calle 13 ("Entren los que quieran"), La Vida Boheme ("Nuestra"), Los Amigos Invisibles ("Not so Commercial") and Mana ("Drama y luz").
"The competition is heavy, they're all big, well-known groups. Now it's in the hands of the universe. I'm calm," said Galindo, who will attend the 54th edition of the Grammys along with his parents and his colleagues in the band.
He said that among his aims for the evening will be to meet Bruce Springsteen, whom he considers to be his hero.
