Toronto, Feb 8 (EFE).- Ten Peruvians died in a traffic accident earlier this week in Ontario, Canada, that killed 11 people, but the victims have not yet been identified, Peru's consul general in Toronto, Aurelio Pinto-Bazurco Rittler, told Efe.
The process of identifying the dead may be "a bit slower than normal," a police spokesman told Efe.
Three survivors of the accident are in an Ontario hospital and attempts to contact them by telephone have been made, Pinto-Bazurco said.
Two of the survivors, however, are in critical condition and were unable to speak, the consul general said.
The accident occurred on Monday, when a van carrying Peruvian temporary farmworkers hit a truck on a rural road about 140 kilometers (87 miles) west of Toronto.
The accident left the truck driver and 10 of the 13 people aboard the van dead.
The dead truck driver was identified as Christopher Fulton, a 38-year-old resident of London, Ontario.
Some of the Peruvian workers had only been in Canada for a week, the consul general said.
